Taiwan trip: Day 2 Explore around Kenting(South Taiwan; beach), Shihlin night market!!

Hi back with the second day. To summarize the second day, after a good breakfast from the Caesar Park Kenting hotel, we rented a bicycle for me and my eldest sis and cycle to the famous light house. After cycling to and fro from the light house, we packed and got on the HSR again and went to Shihlin (Shilin) which is the famous night market for our next accommodation for the second day.

After the awesome breakfast, we went to explore the recreation center in the hotel building ..

We were quite scared to rent and ride the electric scooter after looking at a video in youtube. After the trip, I would say we feel literally dumb and stupid for now renting the electric scooter. Cycling was hard bcoz you'll really need energy and to cycle all the way to the light house, you'll used up all the energy digested from the morning buffet breakfast earlier on. We simply feel stupid with our decision when a few of the electric scooter pass by us.. it really was not as fast as the normal petrol motorcycle. Luckily the bicycle that we rent allows us to change gear or not I'm not sure how we'll cycle back to the hotel. 

It took us around 45 mins to cycle from our hotel to the Eluanbi Lighthouse (Chinese: 鵝鑾鼻燈塔).

 

 There's quite a few hotels here and there..

I really like how the design their buildings that make you feel like you are in a beach town..

 

 There's a small market just at the exit that displays/sells some interesting things..

 The shopkeeper told me that to get a good ones, you must be able to see some layers from the side..

 The seller was like telling me, when I am happy with someone, I can turn the toy like that.. and other funny expressions..

Inside the Taiwan HSR..

So we board the bus and arrive the ZuoYing HSR and use the HSR to Taipei Main Station. After that we change to the red line to go to Shihlin area. Just some extra notes, align at Jiantan station and NOT shilin station. I'm not sure why they do this but just get out from Jiantan station and you'll reach the night market after like 2 minutes walk. If you get out from Shilin station, you may need to walk more than 5 minutes. Can refer to google maps.

Quick fact: Shihlin Night Market (aka Shilin Night Market) is the biggest and most popular night market in Taiwan. There are a lot of night markets around Taiwan. We realize that some of the things/food is not available in other night markets. So BUY the FOOD if you really wanna try it.. :)

 Jiantan station. You'll see a lot of people going to shihlin night market.

We stayed in Les Suite Grandee Taipei Hotel (aka Grandee Taipei Hotel) which is just right in front of the night market. We paid around RM400 per night here. The advantage is the service and location is good. The downside is the room is quite small for me for that amount of money.

 For this, you just choose the chicken you want, and give it to them and they'll mix the chicken with sth.. I dont really like it coz I think the chicken is still a bit raw and chewy for me.

 Just get what you wan and they'll mix some seasoning on it.

 This is a must try food.. I think its a food that made out of egg.. Get the one that they display, which has four different flavours.

 Taiwan's Kebab.. Quite nice.. Make sure you add on cheese.

 My sis say its called what black plastic bag tea.. But it taste very close to Malaysia's "Teh C Peng"

 There was a sho near our hotel that sells these guns. But according to my cousin, its a fake gun as in BB gun.. Saw one AK47 that cost around RM550.. and it weights!!

 The famous 阿宗麵線 Ah Chung Mee Sua... it looks simply but yeah it does taste tasty and good..

 This mushroom is also nice.. I went for the seaweed flavour..

That's all for the second day. Honestly, its quite short bcoz we spent the most time with the transfer from Kenting to Zuoying HSR (by bus for 3 hours) then Zuoying HSR to Taipei Main Station HSR (2 hours) and used the MRT to Jiantan Station.

As for the third day, I'll blog about Yangmingshan National Park and Beitou(hot spring area).. STay Tuned!!
